Object of the Bill

The object of this Act is to make provision for the establishment, development, management, marketing, maintenance, supervision and control of free zones; to establishments the free zones bureau to be responsible for the establishment, development, management, marketing, maintenance, supervision and control  of free zones; to provide that the Board of the Uganda Investment Authority shall coordinate, monitor and supervise the implementation of this Act in collaboration within the Uganda Revenue Authority and to provide for other related  Matters.

The Bill is now an Act of Parliament. When a Bill has completed all its parliamentary stages on the floor of Parliament, it must have President Assent before becoming an Act of Parliament (law). President Assent is the State agreement to make the Bill into an Act and it is a formality.
