Object of the Bill

The object of this Bill is to revise, modernize and replace the Investment Code Act and inter alia to make it conform with the Constitution; to continue in existence the Uganda Investment
Authority established under that Act; to spell out the objects of the Authority; to redefine the functions of the Authority; to modify the composition of the Board; to provide for the registration of investors and issuing to the investors of investment certificates; to make the Authority a one stop centre for coordination, promotion, facilitation and monitoring of investment and investors; to incorporate provisions relating to finance, accounting and auditing; to provide for the submission of annual reports by the Authority and to provide for other related matters.

Waiting for Assent. Bill is waiting for the President to assent to it. When the Floor of Parliament has passed a Bill, it shall be presented to the President, and the President shall declare either that he assents to the Bill or that he withholds assent.

The Bill is now an Act of Parliament. When a Bill has completed all its parliamentary stages on the floor of Parliament, it must have President Assent before becoming an Act of Parliament (law). President Assent is the State agreement to make the Bill into an Act and it is a formality.
