Object of the Bill

The Object of this Bill is to give the force of law in Uganda to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement; to provide for climate change response measures; to provide for participation in climate change mechanisms; to provide for measuring of emissions, reporting and verification of information; to provide for institutional arrangements for coordinating and implementing climate change response measures; to provide for financing for climate change; and other related matters.

The Bill is now an Act of Parliament. When a Bill has completed all its parliamentary stages on the floor of Parliament, it must have President Assent before becoming an Act of Parliament (law). President Assent is the State agreement to make the Bill into an Act and it is a formality.
